Singer/ Songwriter Joe Herbert

Press Kit

Joe Herbert is a singer/songwriter living in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Originally from Pennsylvania, he's been writing and performing since 1992, and will be recording his latest batch of songs for release in 2006. Joe has performed at many of the clubs, bars and outdoor festivals in and around Washington, DC and the State of Virginia, either as a solo act, or with a full band. He has shared the stage with legendary performers such as Todd Rundgren, as well as more up and coming artists like Keller Williams and John Molo.

The thought provoking lyrics are considered his strongest facet, yet the tunes lend themselves to a wide variety of styles and genres. They range from melodic pop oriented love songs (heaven, nothing at all) to full on, jammed out numbers (so far, another mirror.) His “Mad Amalgamation of Musically Inclined Friends” is a loose knit group of various high calibre musicians, designed to fit the needs of each particular gig.

Joe has written over 200 songs, each of which is unique in style and substance. Drawing from a diverse musical background, the influences are evident in the wide range of genres and styles. Blues, Rock, Swing, Jazz, Hip Hop and World influences abound. Listing Dylan at the top of the heap, Herbert quickly rattles off a varied list of other artists who've pushed him along. Pete Townshend, Elvin Bishop, Neil Young, The Dead, Morcheeba, Bruce Cockburn, Neil Diamond, Van Morrison, Nick Drake and Pearl Jam all are listed in quick succession.

Joe Herbert has been the subject of feature interviews in the Winchester Star, Metro Music Connection, The Northern Virginia Daily, Mind Candy, The Broadside, (GMU’s Newspaper), and The Shenandoah Valley Herald to name just a few. He’s been selected as “Musician of the Month” several times at ShenandoahMusic.Com, and has played many benefits and fund raising events throughout the years. Lyrics, Mp3 song files, artwork, photos, and information on upcoming shows can all be found at his website - www.joeherbert.com.

You can see Joe Herbert perform live in and around Washington DC, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and all along the East Coast. He is currently in the studio recording his latest material, and has a video project underway.
